Oaxacan by birth, heart and conviction.
She does her University studies in Medicine and Orthopedics in Guadalajara and in the State of Mexico.
She decides to put science aside to dedicate herself fully to the arts. First in Music, at the Peña el Sapo Songbook where she performed choirs and minor percussions for some years. At that time she began studies in the activity at which she is currently engaged in the Active School of Photograph of Echegaray. Upon completion of the Diploma in Professional Photography. She returns to reside in the City of
OAXACA, where she continues her training in the art of painting with light mainly at the Álvarez Photographic Center Bravo and in the Arts Center of San Agustín, Etla. Despite the technological advances, Rosalba continues making photography on film, developing and enlarging on the dark room; not being able to separate from her curious instinct. She devoted most of her time to experimental photography, with pinhole cameras where she tries to catch images with a “blind” device.
She is currently carrying out projects with self-made pinhole cameras made out of recycled soda cans and placing them in various parts of the city to make long exposures. Rosalba leaves them for (months or even years) giving as a result solarigraphy , of which she is now making a book on Hydra in the show Photobook Incubator in Mexico City. In addition to doing analog photography with old cameras, she also does digital photography, her predilection being panoramic landscapes and portraits.
Eager for knowledge, she is always updating and taking workshops related to her artistic interests. She has under her arm multiple solo and collective exhibitions in Oaxaca City, The USA, Colombia, Argentina and throughout the Mexican Republic. She won the public award at the centenary celebrations of the UNAM, with the photograph “Surgeons in training”. She was selected in the III Oaxaca Photography Biennial 2018. Rosalba also obtained three honorable mentions in the ninth contest National Photography Images and Sounds of Mexico: ¨Traditional music and dances ¨
Finalist in the call for the Latin American Award for models, FELIFA- FUTURA 2018, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She has been working as a photographer and relationships
public at the Bustamante Vasconcelos Cultural Foundation since 2015.
